SPIDER-MAN FANS OUTRAGED AT MARVEL

Spider-man fans are mad because the latest edition of the hit comic book wipes out his 20 year marriage to his sweetheart Mary Jane. In Spider-Man No. 545 the web-slinger agrees a deal with villain Mephisto, to protect his identity and spare his elderly Aunt May. In return Spider-Man’s alter ego Peter Parker must turn his back on Mary-Jane and their history together, which has been erased from their memories. The move, revealed when the comic book hit news stands on Friday has infuriated die-hard fans of the series who have invested decades in the soap opera, reports the New York Post. Marvel.com’s message boards includes the posts, "Every single issue that I have every read never happened? Thanks a lot guys. I really appreciate having a company that I’ve given a lot of money to over the years crap all over me. I guess I’m not the ‘target demographic’ anymore." Another reads, "The Spider-Man I’ve loved and read about for 34 years is dead now. No matter how well written or drawn what comes next may or may not be, it is being built upon the corpse of something that I, and many other readers, cared about deeply."

Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe has landed the lead role in a new movie about a slain photo-journalist. The 19-year-old will appear as photographer Dan Eldon in Journey, a film chronicling the civil war in Somalia. Eldon was one of four journalists stoned to death by a mob in the African country in 1993. And Eldon’s mother Kathy believes Radcliffe was the perfect choice to play her tragic son. She says, "We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood." A compilation of Eldon’s diaries, on which the movie is based, has sold over 200,000 copies since first being published in 1997.

OLIVER STONE TO COLLECT HOSTAGES

Award winning director Oliver Stone has travelled to Colombia to collect three hostages who are to be released by Marxist rebels. The Platoon filmmaker was in Venezuela to film a documentary about Latin America and North America when he decided to accompany the Venezuelan-led air mission to pick up the hostages. But Stone refused to say whether he would film the actual rescue of the hostages or not. He says, "It’s wonderful. I’ve never been in such a thing and I’m proud to be part of this." The hostages, who were kidnapped in 2001,were expected to be freed yesterday. No word yet on weather they took Oliver Stone Instead.

HARRY POTTER HAS A NEW FAMILY TREE

Harry Potter's J.K. Rowling has created a family tree for the boy wizard, but has ruled out penning a sequel to her seven book saga. The British author admits it has been impossible to let go of Harry Potter since her final book was released earlier this year, so she has created a family tree which offers a glimpse into the future of the book’s characters. But Rowling is adamant she will not write another Potter book, despite recent reports to the contrary. She says, "I can’t help it. It was like running a race and you get to the finishing line and you’re running too fast to stop, so I do know what happened afterwards and I couldn’t stop my imagination doing that. "It gives me a certain satisfaction to say what I thought happened and to tell other people that, because I would like my version to be the official version." Meanwhile the Harry Potter series has made Rowling one of the richest woman in the world.

Jennifer Lopez is struggling to control her hormones, because her pregnancy has left her an emotional wreck. The Latina superstar is expecting her first child with husband Marc Anthony, and admits she is finding it difficult not to burst into tears at any given opportunity. I’m pregnant and a bit young, aren’t I? "My demographic is generally young girls. I don’t think a maternity line is particularly suitable."

AMY WINEHOUSE ORDERED TO COURT

Rehab singer Amy Winehouse has been ordered to appear in a Norwegian court two months after she was arrested and fined in the country. The Troubled hit singers, husband Blake Fielder-Civil and her hairdresser were briefly arrested and fined $725. for drug use and possession of seven grams of marijuana in the western Norwegian town of Bergen on October18th. Winehouse has been ordered to appear in court on February 29th according to Bergen police lawyer Rudolf Christoffersen. He says, "The Gulating court (in Bergen) sent us a letter dated December 18, 2007, stating that… this case cannot be tried in absentee." The 24-year-old reportedly claimed she was tricked by police into signing a confession, but Christoffersen insists, "(Police were) very certain the three knew what they were signing. "They were interrogated by a police officer who speaks fluent English… and they paid the fine on the spot."

WHO IS JAMIE LYNN SPEARS BABY'S DAD

Star Magazine is reporting that Jamie Lynn Spears baby is not fathered by Casey Aldridge, but by an older man who could face rape charges over the conception, according to new U.S.reports. Star magazine claims the Spears family are paying Aldridge, 18, to play dad in a bid to mask the father’s true identity and avoid the shame of an under-age sex scandal involving underage 16-year-old Jamie-Lynn. The reports come days after Jamie-Lynn confirmed she is 12-weeks pregnant with student Aldridge’s baby during an interview with OK! magazine.According to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton’s website, a Star source is reported as saying, "Casey is being paid off to be the family’s fall guy while the real father remains unidentified. "The man many suspect is the father, however, would face charges and probably prison time if he were to come forward and admit he had sex with her." Star magazine quotes "two separate Spears family insiders" who believe the father is someone who works on Jamie-Lynn’s kids’ TV show, Zoey 101. The source adds, "In Hollywood, little girls grow up fast, and she is no exception. With everything that has gone on in her family, she needed someone to look up to. But the man she found seems to have completely taken advantage of her." In Jamie-Lynn’s home state of Louisiana, Aldridge would escape legal action because a 16-year-old can legally have sex with a person less than two years older.

WESLEY SNIPES TAX EVASION TRIAL ON

Hollywood Star Wesley Snipes federal tax-evasion trial will go ahead next month in Florida, despite objections by his lawyers. Snipes, 45, is due to stand trial on charges he fraudulently claimed tax refunds of almost $12 million in 1996 and 1997. He is also accused of failing to file tax returns from 1999 to 2004. But his lawyers argued the star cannot get a fair trial in the city of Ocala and said he had the right to a trial in New York City where he was living when the alleged offences occurred. However, during a hearing on Monday, U.S. District Judge William T. Hodges ordered for the case to go ahead as scheduled.

BETTE DAVIS TO GET POSTAGE STAMP

Hollywood icon Bette Davis will be commemorated on a United States postage stamp next year on what would have been the star’s 100th birthday. The two-time Oscar winner is to be honored as part of the Legends of Hollywood Series, and will be the 14th star to be remembered with a stamp, following in the footsteps of fellow screen sirens Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. Davis died in France in October 1989, after losing a long battle with breast cancer.

American Pie star Tara Reid has put an end to speculation over her shock collapse at a Christmas party over the weekend. The party-loving actress was taken to a local hospital in Bali and treated for cuts and bruises after a mystery fall. Filing the lawsuit in Los Angeles earlier this week, Manson -real name Brian Warner, is seeking unspecified general and special damages. In court documents, he claimed Manson used band funds to buy a mansion and pay for drug treatment and a Nazi memorabilia collection.

DAVID HASSELHOFF SETTLES WITH WIFE

Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has finally settled his bitter divorce battle with ex-wife Pamela Bach after almost two years after filing for legal separation. The former Television star 55, announced his marriage split from his wife of 16 years in January 2006. He was awarded full and physical custody of the former couple’s two teenage children, Taylor-Ann, 17, and Hayley, 15, in June, despite drunk videos of Hassellhoff leaking onto the Internet. Under the terms of their new agreement, Hasselhoff and Bach will share joint custody. According to TMZ.com, the pair reached a deal on their financial issues, including spousal and child support, on Friday, after a long discussion on the division of assets. The details of their settlement have not been disclosed, but it is understood they will sell their home in Encino, California.

Hollywood comedy star Will Ferrell is planning to promote his new sports movie Semi-Pro during next year’s huge Super Bowl broadcast. The actor plays a basketball player-owner-coach in the new film, which is due for release shortly after the February 6th,2008, American football showdown. According to the New York Post, Ferrell will play his character in a Budweiser commercial, which is due to air during the game. Jay-Z is wishing rehab singer Amy Winehouse a speedy recovery from her drug addiction, so the pair can reunite in the studio. The music king remixed the British star’s hit track Rehab earlier this year. He says "I’d love to work with her again. I hope she keeps herself together. Her voice is incredible. I’m drawn to voices." Winehouse has been a tabliod dream this year after she was rushed to hospital following a suspected drugs overdose and booed off stage during her U.K tour. BONO SETS UP INVESTMENT COMPANY

U2 Rocker Bono has defended his decision to set up a $1.9 billion investment company, insisting it doesn’t contradict his image as a poverty campaigner. The U2 frontman is one of five co-founders of Elevation Partners, named after one of the band’s songs, which has a $1.9 billion fund and recently invested $250 million into American magazine Forbes, which openly describes itself as a "capitalist tool". But Bono insists he isn’t interested in making a profit, he is simply an ideas man adapting his creativity to big business. The 47-year-old explains, "I’m a top line melody guy. That’s what I do. I understand harmony. I understand rhythm. But I sell ideas, musical, political, and in this case, commercial ideas. "So many great painters, great musicians, great geniuses ended up with nothing. CMT.com reports police found Cagle and the woman’s boyfriend fighting outside the club when they arrived on the scene. ARREST WARRANT FOR DANIEL BALDWIN

Once again a judge has issued a warrant for Daniel Baldwin's arrest after the actor failed to appear at a court hearing on Friday.The 47-year-old was due to be at Los Angeles County Superior Court at 10am to discuss his probation progress after he was found guilty of having a cocaine ingesting device on his person and of being under the influence last year.When Baldwin failed to show up, Judge Scott Millington issued a no bail bench warrant for his arrest and revoked the actor’s probation. Baldwin’s probation officer also submitted a report claiming the star has missed several drug-rehabilitation meetings, reports website TMZ.com.

VIVICA A. FOX SENTENCED BY JUDGE

Hollywood actress VIVICA A. FOX has been sentenced to three years’ probation and fined $400 after pleading guilty to drink-driving on Friday.Judge Stephen Pfaler also ordered Fox to enter a 90-day alcohol education program during a hearing in a Van Nuys, California court.The Kill Bill star was not in court and entered her plea of no contest through her lawyer.Fox was arrested in March after police stopped her for travelling at around 80 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone on a Los Angeles freeway. She was then charged with driving under the influence.

Johnny Depp will play a ruthless gangster in his new film. The Hollywood actor will portray renowned bank robber John Dillinger, who is on the run from the FBI, in 'Public Enemies'. Depp reportedly signed up for the project just hours before the Hollywood premiere of 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' on Wednesday night. A source said: "Everyone is delighted to have Johnny on board. He has great charisma but has proved before that he can bring an intimidating, threatening presence too. "Director Michael Mann is very pleased that he has got his man." 'Public Enemies' is set during the great crime wave of the early 30s, when FBI boss J. Edgar Hoover was chasing a host of infamous criminals, including Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. Dillinger has become a mythical figure in US history, with some reports claiming that Hoover kept his penis in a jar after his death at the hands of the FBI in 1934. Shooting for the film, which is adapted from the book of the same name by Bryan Burrough, will begin on March 10.

The 'Hung Up' singer has revealed the candy-inspired title and confirmed the LP, her final release with record company Warner Music Group Corporation, will be released next April. Kanye West will guest on 'The Beat Goes On', while previously unreleased song 'The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You' will also feature. Two tracks from the album, 'Candy Shop' and 'The Beat Goes On', were played on Larry Flick's Sirius Satellite Radio Show yesterday although the Kanye version is yet to be recorded. Earlier this year, Madonna signed a $120 million recording and tour deal. The 'Material Girl' singer received the huge offer from live entertainment promoter Live Nation Incorporated. Madonna's outstanding contract with Warner requires her to produce one more studio album and a greatest hits record. Live Nation's 10-year deal promises Madonna, 49, a signing bonus of around $18 million and a $17 million advance in cash and stocks for each of the three albums stipulated in the contract. Live Nation will own the rights to sell Madonna's merchandise and license her name, and any profits split between the singer and the company. They are also set to pay $50 million in cash and stock to promote Madonna's tours.

Charlize Theron stays in shape by only eating quarter portions of her favourite treats. The Oscar-winning actress refuses to cut junk food out of her diet, but manages to keep the calories down by only eating a quarter of the meals she likes. Charlize, 32, said: "I'm careful to eat a healthy balance of foods, but I eat six small meals a day. "If I fancy a burger, rather than deprive myself I'll eat a quarter of one." The 'Monster' star - who piled on the pounds to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 award-winning film - also keeps her exercise regime interesting by taking part in fun outdoor activities. She told Britain's Elle magazine: "I love to be active, especially outdoors. My favourite workouts are cycling, kayaking and walking." The South African born actress now lives in Los Angeles with her long-term boyfriend, Irish actor Stuart Townsend. Charlize recently confessed she is terrified her breasts are sagging. She said: "I'm 32 and as you get older you get wrinkles and your boobs sag. You get wisdom too, so it's not all bad. But you can't really do anything about ageing."

BRITNEY SPEARS BEGGED EX-HUSBAND

Britney Spears begged ex-husband Kevin Federline to celebrate her 26th birthday with her on Sunday. The troubled singer seemed happy as she partied until 4am with pal Paris Hilton, but reportedly made a late-night phone call to Kevin - who currently has full custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, two, and 14-month-old Jayden James - pleading with him to join her. A source close to the singer told the New York Post newspaper: "She begged him to come out with her. Kevin reminded her that one of them needed to be a parent and take care of the boys. Then she hung up on him. Kevin said she was drinking." Meanwhile, Britney was almost replaced in her music video for new single 'Pieces of Me'. Jive Records were left furious after the troubled singer failed to turn up for the shoot, and threatened to give the $500,000 set to new singer Samantha Jade to use for her own video. A Jive Records insider said: "Britney was supposed to shoot a video for her song 'Pieces of Me' last week. Jive hired Wayne Isham to direct, had all the dancers there - hair, make-up and everything. But she refused to come. Jive was really upset. "They were going to use it for another Jive artist, Samantha Jade, because it was too expensive to just scrap. But Britney finally showed up 12 hours late when she realized a new, younger, hotter girl would take her slot."

MICHAEL JACKSON HAS GONE GREEN

Michael Jackson has gone green to help save the earth. The eccentric star - who frequently charters private planes and has been accused of having a large carbon footprint - has splashed out around $20,000 on an environmentally-friendly Toyota Prius car. Michael, 49, was seen leaving Beverly Hills' Sharper Image electrical shop before climbing into the back seat of his super-green vehicle with his driver on Friday. The Prius - which is powered by electricity and petrol - has emerged as Hollywood's hybrid car of choice. Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the first celebrities to purchase a Prius in 2001, and other stars were quick to follow. Celebrity owners now include Cameron Diaz, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston, Harrison Ford and Susan Sarandon. Ferrell has gushed about how much he loves his green car, and even gone as far as to describe it "sexy". He said: "I absolutely love our Prius. In addition to being obviously economical and environmentally friendly, they drive great and are just plain sexy. There's no reason all Americans shouldn't be driving hybrid cars." Diaz has also praised the car's fuel efficiency, saying: "It gets 52 miles per gallon. In the city. Isn't that exciting?"

JOHN TRAVOLTA READY FOR NEW BABY

John Travolta and Kelly Preston celebrate Christmas, despite being Scientologists. Kelly - who attended the Scientology Celebrity Centre's 15th Annual 'Christmas Stories' Fundraiser for the Hollywood Police Activities League youth programs with their children Ella, seven and five-year-old Jett on Saturday revealed the family are looking forward to a white Christmas. She told People magazine: "We go to our home in Maine every year. I'm huge on Christmas. So we're going to go up on the 5th of December. I take the kids sledding, Johnny comes and we all love to sled down the backyard." Ella has already written her letter to Santa, and has asked for a toy horse barn and trailer. Kelly, 45, also revealed she and John are planning to try for a third baby, and hopes it will arrive in time for next Christmas. She said: "We're talking about it, but I'm not pregnant yet. Maybe something like a Christmas present next year."

The 'Resident Evil' star and her fiancé, director Paul Anderson, named their daughter - who was born at Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai Medical Center on November 3 - Ever Gabo Anderson, after merging several names. Milla, 31, wrote in a blog on her official website: "The name Ever is a Scottish boy's name. Paul has Scottish blood in him (not to mention two tartans in his family!) so we wanted to give her a name that reflected her 'Celtic' roots. "And Gabo is a mixture of my parents' names! The first two letters are after my mom's first name, Galina and the last two letters are after my dad's first name Bogie!" Milla met Paul, 42, in 2002, when he directed her in 'Resident Evil'. They announced their engagement in March 2003, but are yet to reveal a date for their wedding. During her pregnancy, the model-turned-actress - who has previously admitted that when she was modelling she kept thin on a diet of coffee and cigarettes - has been enjoying the excuse to eat whatever she wants and pile on the pounds. She said: "I'm gaining weight, which is fun. "I've been craving lots of bad stuff but I've been cooking a lot. I did this amazing slow-roasted tomato dip the other night, and steaks, and my mom's potatoes. "My diet for most of this year has been - for breakfast, four eggs with bacon, toast and butter, if I was at home. Then if I was at a diner, I'd have a Mexican omelet's, a stack of pancakes and strawberry milkshake." Milla also revealed that she craved bone marrow during the early stages of her pregnancy.

NICOLE RICHIE'S SHOWER FOR MOTHERS

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden hosted a surprise baby shower for 100 young mothers yesterday. The couple, who are expecting their first baby on New Year's Eve, donated over $200,000 worth of gifts to new mothers and pregnant women at Hollywood's Los Angeles Free Clinic. Nicole said: "The looks on their faces were priceless. Some of them didn't even believe us when they saw the gifts. They thought we were joking. "Everything they got, we got. So everything that will be in their nursery will be in our nursery." The gifts included cribs, mattresses, baby clothes, accessories and toys. The young couple - engaged to be married next year - set up the Richie Madden Children's Foundation to help expectant mothers when they found out they were to become parents themselves. Joel said: "We grew up in Los Angeles and we want our child to be a part of the community, and to know that there's a responsibility to help the community "Sometimes people don't want to believe that me and Nicole are just a young couple having a baby and we're really excited. We don't really get to share our lives with people. It's nice to connect with people on a real level." Nicole, 26, added to People magazine: "We named it the Richie Madden Children's Foundation because we each have families and our families are close, and our family is involved. Joel, 28, added: "We're lucky that we have families that get along and love each other. I think it's great that our child will grow up as a part of that family."

AMY WINEHOUSE FLEES LONDON HOME

A source close to Amy - who is currently staying with a friend in Bow, east London - told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "She has preferred being in the East End since her husband Blake was arrested. "The Camden house holds a lot of bad memories - it was the scene of her drug overdose and is full of reminders of Blake. "She has hardly been back there since the overdose. Now, with Blake in prison, she can hardly bring herself to walk through the door. So she's bought a place in east London and plans to sell the Camden pad." Meanwhile, Pete Doherty confirmed he has recorded a duet with the 'Rehab' singer. Pete - who is currently battling his own drug addiction - said: "Who would I most like to collaborate with? Amy Winehouse. We were working on something last night actually. It's called 'You Hurt The Ones You Love'." On Sunday, the Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty dedicated his song 'Albion' to her during his band's performance in Scotland. Pete said: "She is a really nice girl and this song is for her. Keep your chin up, Amy."

PAUL MCCARTNEY'S PAINTING OBSESSION

Sir Paul McCartney stares at his favorite oil painting to forget about his bitter divorce. The Beatles legend, who is currently embroiled in a battle with estranged wife Heather Mills, regularly visits north London's Kenwood House art gallery to spend time looking at The Guitar Player - a 17th Century piece by Jan Vermeer. A source said: "Paul is obsessed with the painting, which features a teenage girl strumming a guitar. He uses the gallery as a haven during his divorce from Heather. He often spends more than 40 minutes staring at The Guitar Player." Paul has approached English Heritage, the owners of the painting, about buying the £50 million (U.S. 100 million) artwork but they have so far refused his offers. Meanwhile, Rosanna Arquette's sibling Alexis Arquette has confirmed she is dating Paul. The 'Desperately Seeking Susan' star and the musician were spotted enjoying a romantic walk on London's Hampstead Heath last week and are getting close. Alexis told People magazine: "They are spending more time together. They're good friends. "Who knows, if something came out of it, that's cool, it's great." Transsexual Alexis revealed that Paul, 65, and Rosanna, 48, met years ago and bonded over their love of music. He said: "She interviewed him for a documentary she did on rock 'n' roll. She's been a big fan of his music for a long time, and I know they befriended each other several years ago. " Last week, it was revealed Paul had treated Rosanna to a gift of sexy lingerie and expensive perfume - the same present he uses to romance every woman. A source said: "He has a ritual. BRITNEY SPEARS FRIEND SUBPOENAED

Britney Spears' friend-and-assistant Sam Lufti has finally been subpoenaed to give evidence in the singer's custody battle. The 'Gimme More' singer's confidante was due to appear in court for questioning on Friday, but did not attend so the case has been rescheduled for January. Lufti has long evaded attempts to serve him with the court order, but on November 7 Britney's ex-husband Kevin Federline's legal team successfully issued him with the deposition. Kevin's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan said: "Lufti was in the parking lot of a place in Hollywood. My process server asked if he was Sam Lutfi, he said yes. The subpoena was handed to him, but he wouldn't take it. So it was dropped, literally on him. But if someone refuses to take it in their hand and you drop it at their feet, they are served. "We will seek a court order to ensure he attends the hearing in January." Lutfi is due in court on December 18 regarding a "vehicle vandalism incident" on August 27, which occurred while he was attempting to avoid being subpoenaed. He allegedly rammed his Mercedes into a Range Rover driven by Aaron Cohen, a process server hired by Kaplan to serve the subpoena. A police officer at the crash scene described the collision as "assault with a deadly weapon", but Los Angeles Police Department officials state the case is now being considered a "vehicle vandalism incident". Meanwhile, Kaplan has issued a statement denying Federline plans to seek more child support. He said: "Every two months, rumors have been raised in the media that Mr. Federline's lawyers are about to go into court to get more money for child support. Persistent questions are again being raised now in the press about the timing of when that will happen. "As I've said, I know where to find the courthouse and what to do when I get there. If Mr. Federline had wanted to increase child support, it would be very easy to achieve and would have been requested long before now. There has not been and is not now a request before the court for a modification of child support. Mr. Federline's purpose in bringing this action continues to be one that is based upon the best interest of the children as his highest priority." Federline currently has temporary full custody of sons Sean Preston, two and 14-month-old Jayden James while Spears has three supervised visits a week, one being an overnight visit.

Heidi, 34, said: "I do miss being pregnant. Children are very addicting. Once they start growing up, you miss when they were little. So, maybe." The German supermodel also revealed her singer husband treats daughter Leni as his own daughter, but is rather rough with his sons because he wants them to grow up tough. She said: "Seal is Leni's father. Seal and I feel very lucky that we found each other. He's my best friend. He would never go in through a door first. He always opens the door for me and steps back so I walk through. "He is the same with Leni, but he is a little harder and rougher with the boys. I'm always reminding Seal that they're little, but he says, 'They need to rough it up a bit.' " The 'Project Runway' presenter also revealed her expensive 10-carat diamond engagement ring - which Seal helped jeweller Lorraine Schwartz design - doesn't sparkle because she is too scared to take it off and clean it. DAVID BECKHAMS COMPULSIVE DISORDER

David Beckham's Obsessive Compulsive Disorder has worsened as he struggles to cope with family conflicts. The soccer star - who has previously admitted to suffering from the condition in the past - is said to be growing anxious about celebrating Christmas because his parents are divorced and do not get on. His father Ted - who recently suffered a near-fatal heart attack - is also said to clash with David's wife Victoria's dad, Tony, so they are unable to spend the festivities together. A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Christmas always makes David nervous and stressed because there are so many family conflicts and emotions flying about. "Ted refuses to be at Christmas lunch with David's mother, Sandra, and it is always better if Victoria's family and the Beckhams are kept apart, especially Ted and Tony. This makes his OCD a lot worse." David - who has three sons, Brooklyn, eight, Romeo, five, and two-year-old Cruz, with Victoria - is so affected by the disorder he can't relax until everything is in order. He recently demanded spotless upholstery and symmetrical crockery during a flight on his private jet. The source added: "David likes his jet arranged so that everything looks neat and when a meal is served to him he insists there is a row of glasses of different sizes on the tray. "He spends time lining up the cutlery, crockery and salt and pepper before he will even begin eating."
