"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul was left red-faced after she made an embarrassing mistake on the television show.The singer was confused after the series' producers changed the judging format from the usual pattern of appraising each contest after they had sung to waiting until all five had finished performing.When asked to appraise first performer Jason Castro, Abdul gave her opinions on two performances, even though each singer had only sung once. She told contestant Jason Castro, "Oh gosh, we've never had to write these things down ... fast enough. Jason, first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear, um ... ."The second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn't -- it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty. The two songs made me feel like you're not fighting hard enough to get into the top four." The audience launched into nervous laughter, before fellow judge Randy Jackson reminded Abdul each performer had only sung once, telling her, "That was just on the first song. Just on the first one."She responded, "Oh my god, I thought you -- I thought you sang twice!" before explaining she had got mixed up with her notes for the next performer, David Cook. Abdul later blamed "American Idol" producers for her mix up, telling "Entertainment Tonight" she has been "in the dark" over the change in format.Fellow judge Simon Cowell also admitted the switch had been difficult, saying, "This was officially the strangest show we've ever done but I like that. It's kind of a bit chaotic tonight."

Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow and hubby Coldplay's Chris Martin have given their two year old son MOSES a rap-inspired nickname, taken from their friend JAY-Z’s music. The couple, who both attended Jay-Z’s recent wedding to Beyonce Knowles, call the tot Sensitive Thug, because of the way he terrorizes his elder sister Apple. Paltrow explains, "Apple is quite and imaginative. She will sit with her things and build houses and hotels for her dolls."Then my son will come in and thrash the hell out of anything she has been doing. If he can inflict pain, that’s even better.
"But he’s very sweet also. We call him our sensitive thug. It’s a line from a Jay-Z song and it suits him perfectly."

Country singing star Carrie Underwood broke down in tears onstage in Atlanta, Ga., last week while performing a song inspired by her mother.The "American Idol" winner began crying during a rendition of "Don't Forget to Remember Me," on the latest leg of her tour supporting Keith Urban. Audience members tell People.com that Underwood struggled through the song, but couldn't overcome her tears. A representative for the star insists the song was written for her mother, and about her leaving home. Lyrics include, "Hey Momma ... tell Me-maw that I miss her/ Yeah, I should give her a call/ And make sure you tell Daddy that I'm still his little girl." Underwood later recovered and finished the concert tear-free.

Rehab singer Amy Winehouse's hubby Blake Fielder Civil is sparking more rumors that his marriage to the singer is in trouble, after he was seen blowing kisses to another woman at his latest court appearance. Fielder-Civil appeared at London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court today for the latest hearing in his ongoing legal case. He is currently being held on remand at London’s Pentonville Prison on charges of perverting the course of justice, relating to a previous charge of grievous bodily harm, and Judge David Radford ruled he will remain there until at least June 9th. Fielder-Civil is normally supported in court by his wild wife, but Winehouse was unable to today's hearing as she was reportedly due to attend a North London police station to be quizzed on allegations of assault. Instead, Fielder-Civil was supported by his father and 21-year-old Sophie Schandorff, who was seen blowing kisses to him from across the courtroom.
Winehouse’s spouse was seen responding by mouthing "I love you" back to the blonde.
But Schandorff, who insists she is simple his "best friend", tells People.com she has known Fielder-Civil for two years and plans on visiting him in prison.She says, "Hopefully tomorrow (I will visit him). But he has to call me." Fielder-Civil’s trial is due to begin on June 2nd.

Beatle Paul McCartney is happy his late wife Linda's vintage photographs are finally going on display in the U.K. - because the exhibition will help to keep her memory alive. A London show of her photos is set at the James Hyman Gallery on Friday, in what will be the first major display of her work. The art show will also mark the 10th anniversary of her death. She lost her battle with cancer in April 1998. The singer is delighted to be able to honor his "great" wife’s memory by putting the collection of works on display. He says, "Since she passed away, the thing is that you worry that she’s not around, so her stuff is not going to be exhibited."We work as a family to ensure that her work is still exhibited, so it means that people are exposed who haven’t seen it before. It’s great for me just to remind people how great she was."

PATRICK DEMPSEY POSTPONES MOVE

Patrick Dempsey is postponing a planned move to Britain until the American economy improves.Dempsey fell in love with the United Kingdom after a holiday there last summer and is planning on moving his family to a house in the English countryside. Famed movies Jurassic Park and King Kong are to be brought to the Middle East as part of the world’s largest theme park playground. Entertainment giant Universal Studios has signed a deal to create a $2.2 billion attraction based on some of Hollywood’s most successful film franchises, reports The New York Post's Page Six. Wonder Woman and Shrek will also feature in the park situated in the Persian Gulf. Universal is reportedly in talks with other film studios in a bid to seek permission to use their films in the park. The park is scheduled to open in 2010.

Hollywood star Christina Ricci is still upset about the way her 2007 film Black Snake Moan was marketed, because she felt movie posters and trailers really exploited women. MADONNA FINDS DISTRIBUTOR FOR PIC

Singing superstar Madonna's directorial debut has landed a distributor in North America and will hit movie houses in August. The comedic drama, Filth & Wisdom, was co-written and co-produced by the ever-busy pop superstar, and it debuted at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany to very mixed reviews. Madonna first considered releasing the film as a download via the iTunes website, but has now signed a deal with IFC Entertainment to land the project a U.S. release. The low-budget movie, about a Ukrainian immigrant in London, stars rocker Eugene Hutz, his band Gogol Bordello and Richard E. Grant.

HUGO CHAVEZ BRINGS SIMPSONS BACK

Venezuela’s wacky and fun President Hugo Chavez has changed his mind on his decision to ban The Simpsons from Television and is allowing the popular cartoon to be shown at a later time. The long-running cartoon has been replaced earlier this month after Chavez deemed it contained "messages that go against the whole education of boys, girls and adolescents". However, in a shock move, regulators have decided to keep showing the long-running show - but have moved it to a 7pm slot. But the channel, Televen TV, may now face fines and could even be banned from broadcasting for three days after regulators insist the channel ignored orders insisting the show should be dropped from its original 11am time slot.

Hollywood star Edward Norton has launched a attack on the media and is stating reporters have "distorted" stories to sensationalize a rift between himself and the studio behind his upcoming film The Incredible Hulk. The actor was allegedly caught in a series of aggressive outbursts towards the financiers of the film, Marvel Entertainment over a disagreement about the movie’s final cut. According to reports, Norton didn’t agree with Marvel’s plans to re-shape the film into a series of action scenes, which led to rampant rumors he had strongly pitted himself against the powerful studio. But the star refutes the rumors, stating such "disputes" were part of a "healthy" movie making creative process, and blames the media for "distorting" the truth in hope of securing a "good story". He says, "Every good movie gets forged through collaboration, and different ideas among people who are all committed and respect the validity of each other’s opinions is the heart of film making."Regrettably, our healthy process, which is and should be a private matter, was misrepresented publicly as a ‘dispute’, seized on by people looking for a good story and has been distorted to such a degree that it risks distracting from the film itself, which Marvel, Universal and I refuse to let happen." And the film’s director Louis Leterrier agrees with Norton’s claims, insisting it was the media’s take on the rift which prevented a final agreement being stalled between the two battling parties. He explains, ‘’Everyone was exhausted; it was like a little burst. (Then it) became public, (which) kept Edward and Marvel from talking to each other. (The purported feud) was nothing and then it became something big."

A family history archive scanned Canadian records dating back more than 300 years from 1621 and announced that all three women are linked by the same ancestor. Camilla, the second wife of British royal Prince Charles, Madonna and Dion are all descended from Frenchman Zacharie Cloutier, according to ancestry.co.uk The website’s spokesman Simon Harper says, "The fact that Camilla and Madonna are related, however distantly, highlights the truly unpredictable and entertaining nature of family history research."

Wild Naomi Campbell is vowing to return to Brazil as a blood donor, after she was unable to give blood to support the fight against disease. The former star travelled to the South American country on Monday planning to donate blood and raise awareness of the mosquito-borne disease which has infected 55,000 people in Brazil and killed 67. But Campbell’s offer of giving blood was turned down because of surgery she had in the Brazilian city of Sao Paolo in February to have a cyst removed.She told reporters, "Unfortunately I cannot give my blood to Rio… but I will be back, for sure."

Hollywood star Rob Lowe's employees are coming forward to defend the actor after an ex-nanny accused him of sexual harassment.Jessica Gibson filed a lawsuit in California yesterday alleging Lowe placed his hand inside her "pants in order to touch her crotch" and "grabbed Gibson’s buttocks without consent" several times between September 2005 to January 2008. Gibson also alleges Lowe repeatedly exposed his penis to her, as well as frequently asking her "to touch his penis." But now Lowe’s estate manager, Carol Andrade, has led a charge to defend the actor, who faces a deposition with his accuser next month. In a written declaration provided to Lowe’s legal team, and obtained by People.com, Andrade states Gibson never told her that Lowe "ever said or did anything that she found inappropriate or offensive or that made her feel uncomfortable… or made sexual advances toward her." Andrade has revealed she has supervised the nannies, chefs, drivers and housekeepers for Lowe, 44, and his wife, Sheryl, 46, for the last 18 months.
She is one of a group of current and former staff members who provided declarations to Lowe’s legal team. In another declaration, Jennifer Dynof, one of the actor’s business associates, stated she’d never witnessed any questionable behaviour by her boss. She writes, "I have never seen him make any sexual advances toward any other woman or act inappropriately, offensively or disrespectfully toward any woman."

LAWSUIT OVER BRET MICHAELS SHOW

A very disgruntled home owner is suing Bret Michaels for allegedly causing $380,000 worth of damage to the property where the singer's "Rock of Love" hit Television show is filmed. Ray Sahranavard has filed his lawsuit against Michaels and the show's production company, Mindless Entertainment Inc. He claims at least $380,000 worth of damage was caused to his Encino, Calif., home during the shooting of Michael's reality dating show, which is nearing the end of its second season on music channel VH1. Sahranavard initially sued Mindless Entertainment Inc. for breach of contract, fraud, negligence and negligent misrepresentation, but on Wednesday he added Michaels to the legal paperwork for alleged intentional destruction of property.According to the suit, the damages include missing doors, holes in walls and ceilings and damaged landscaping. The owner also claims the whole house needed repainting.

But after several weeks, the singer later found a suspicious lump in her breast and, after consulting a different doctor, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. During an appearance on television star Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, the star urged other women to get a second opinion from their doctor if they suspect they might have the same condition. I don't want to say that to frighten people but that's just a fact."I had just had a mammogram and they didn't find anything and a couple of weeks later I found a lump. JAY Z'S 150 MILLION LIVE NATION DEAL

Rapper Jay-Z is poised to sign a $150m deal with concert promoters Live Nation, mirroring a similar ground-breaking contract signed by Madonna, it has been reported.The New York Times is reporting that Jay-Z would part company with long-time backers Def Jam after agreeing a multi-pronged 10-year contract with Live Nation covering future recordings and tours.The decision of yet another A-list star to eschew a deal with a traditional record label in exchange for an all-encompassing commercial contract reflected the "anarchy" sweeping the music industry, the Times report said. Analysts say the trend is a consequence of falling CD sales which has left music industry players seeking to secure wide-ranging deals that allow them to tap into multiple revenue streams, such as concert ticketing and merchandising.The Times report said the Jay-Z deal would be finalized later this week. If confirmed, it will represent another coup for Beverly Hill-based Live Nation, which signed Madonna to a $120m 10-year agreement last year and this week announced a 12-year deal with Irish super group U2 that will cover the band's merchandising, touring and website. Live Nation was not immediately available to comment on the Times report.

MALAWI'S HIGH COURT OK'S MADONNA

Malawi's government is recommending that its High Court approve superstar Madonna's adoption of David Banda, the child she met in a Malawian orphanage a year and a half ago. Madonna began adoption proceedings in 2006 and the 2-year-old has been living with the pop star and her film director husband Guy Ritchie in their London home since then.The adoption has been controversial, with critics accusing the government of skirting laws that ban non-residents from adopting children in Malawi, which has been badly hit by an Aids epidemic leaving more than one million orphans.But in a confidential report dated March 25 2008, signed by Probation Officer S Chisale at the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the government said Madonna and Ritchie had proved to be suitable parents for the Malawian boy."In the best interest of the child, I do recommend the petitioners to your Lordship for your consideration that they be granted an adoption order having proved that they are suitable parents and satisfied the conditions in the Interim Adoption Order," the report.
